Tony Clarke was the managing director of Dragon Data from its inception to September 1983 and one it's primary driving forces.

Tony studied finance at university in Warwick (we believe), which was the role he worked in on joining Mettoy. Tony and the Clarke family then moved from Sutton Coldfield to the Swansea area to be near Mettoy in Swansea. He identified that home computing was the way to go for Mettoy, especially given that there was a grant available from the Welsh government to help with funding, as an aid to creating hi-tech jobs in the area. This led to Tony in 1979, going to the US to do research into the home computer market & manufacturers, including Tandy.

Tony was certainly a driving force at Dragon Data and was pushing for development. Towards the end of his tenure others disagreed that research and development was worth investing in, something Tony felt very strongly about. In August/September 1983 the company was also getting into financial difficulties, so Tony was removed by the board and replaced by Brian Moore from GEC.

After Tony and Dragon parted ways, he stayed in the area and went into calf rearing. He later divorced in 1988 and eventually moved to Spain where passed away around 2009.
